Webspar “a new way of shopping”

The supermarket we imagine comes directly from the environment. It is open and included in the neighborhood becoming a link to the city itself, a meeting place rather than a barrier and a privileged place for exchange. The paths define the project linking the access points to the site. It expands embedding and enabling the city to become a connection tool. We have reduced this growth to a minimum in order to increase the green area to be integrated into the project. The area is modified by inserting paths for city connection and for a complete integration with the design of buildings and green. We decide to keep the site’s old historical area adapting it to new context. The project area is raised and cut to create a covered space with access to the supermarket, which is flanked by several departments, and with paths leading to the old area that will become part of our project. The paths allow a continuous flow at all levels thanks to widespread accesses. The structure consists of several levels including daily fresh product dept, uploading &downloading areas and offices on the ground floor, a bar with terrace on the attic floor and the ramp as a commercial link. The pasta factory consists of 6 multi-functional and dynamic levels that host shops and activities. The suggested alternative changes the method of storage and purchase of goods by removing shelves, cash machines, trolleys enabling a faster and more easier access. Through automated stores the products are picked and packed for  the customer who using QR Code readers, will have access to all the information he needs and he will be free to continue his walking and collect the goods later. The internal spiral fits our streams becoming a furniture continuously accompanying the visitor wherever he can choose products or simply continuing to stroll around.

The new distribution system follows a new concept of shopping, faster and more accessible to everybody. The supermarket is divided into 2 areas: one for fresh products and one for canned products. The first area located on the ground floor keeps the classic distribution, alternating  ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ areas for the customer. The purchasing method for canned products, and also for fresh product, is revolutionized by eliminating dead spots of classical system, such as the checkout line, and the presence of the shopping cart making the process more accessible. This is done through mobile phones or devices capable of reading the QR Code and that provide information on the price, origin and expiry date of the product, providing access also to a network community to exchange views and opinions on the quality of products on sale. Once the products are selected choosing the picture, the order will be sent to the packaging department that will fill a box with the required products. The customer  will wait for his goods at the bar or going around the shopping mall. Once the order will be ready  for delivery the customer will be informed by a signal and payment will be done automatically, so that the last task e will be collecting the goods.nThe system also works with an on-line shopping, and pick up from the store.
